Sports

Typically developing children and adults develop at different stages. UDID is unique in that we provide programs that meet individual needs. As our goal is to build sports teams, we do know that it’s not ideal that every client's development will be the same, it will be an eminence of time and hard work. Although typical sports teams do provide different levels of developments, each level is fast paced and does not provide lenient rules with individuals who are on the spectrum while playing in common sports events. More importantly they do not have fully trained staff, trainers, therapists to work in a field with children and adults that are on the spectrum. It's key to have individuals who went to school for this field just as much as the passion. Our goal is to have a minimum of three tier sports teams, which all sports teams will have. As our goal is to build an empire of children and adults’ teams, we cannot have teams until we train ever individually as they come in.

1 on 1 training, then 1 on 2 training, which leads to 1 on 3, 1 on 4,1 on 5 training and then 2vs2, 3vs3,4vs4 and then the ultimate goal 5 vs 5. [GCS(1] UDID knows that it will most likely be a high probability that it will take time to get our clients to be able to compete in structured basketball games; however, we know it is very possible. We do not want to just compete against other neurotypical teams.  Our goal and we will strive to play other teams, typical teams. Just because our clients have differences in developing does not mean that we’re less than and that we cannot accomplish what a typical individual can. In 2018 Kalin Bennett made history as the first student-athlete with autism to get a collegiate NCAA division 1 full ride scholarship. We want and we will create more stories like Kalin Bennett because we’re the missing peace. We don’t treat or see our clients as if they are special needs as their mainly viewed, we’re aware that they HAVE special needs and know that we will have to modify programs but we at UDID do not underestimate our clients and we will push for them to be viewed as typical as we can be; however, as our goal is to show and prove that our clients can do it, they shouldn’t be discriminated and we’re pushing to be as typical as possible we do not want to be compared.

We are not training to be like anyone else, we’re training our clients to be their own person. We make sure we’re not pushing them too hard but pushing them to master goals. We strive to create an organization that is uniquely different. We will create programs for specific client needs, we have inputted values such as principles of ABA programs but inputted it for our sports[. Every client will have goals to master, how many goals they’re given at once are client based. Everyone's ultimate goal is to learn all the sports concepts, what we’re playing, why we have to do such things for example why do we have to dribble a basketball with one hand opposed from kicking it like  a soccer ball. Once we can get to our main goal, then we can learn how to play organized games.
